The 95th New Year’s Invitational Tournament will be played January 7-10, 2021.
The New Year’s Invitational has enjoyed the participation of outstanding players from around the world. Past participants include established PGA Tour winners beginning with Masters champion Bob Goalby, continuing with Gary Koch, Gary Hallberg, Bob Tway, Rocco Mediate, Jason Dufner, J B Holmes and Brandt Snedeker, as well as US Amateur champions Buddy Alexander, Peter Uihlein and Gunn Yang. This year’s defending champion is Nick Gabrelcik who won the 2020 title, shooting a final round 67 for a rain-shortened 205 total.
Entrants in the Championship Division must have a USGA handicap index not greater than 2.0. The tournament format will be 72 holes, stroke play, from the championship tees. The field will be cut to the low 55 players and ties after 54 holes.
The entry fee of $440 includes the tournament rounds and practice round Wednesday, January 6th. Players may request an earlier, alternate date for a practice round by contacting our pro shop at 727-864-1595. Please note that the entry fee includes 7% state and local sales taxes.
For the tournament rounds, depending on starting times, boxed lunches and on-course pre-packaged refreshments will be provided to competitors each day. For this year contestants will walk for all rounds. Any contestant with a documented medical necessity will be allowed the use of a cart. Should conditions improve we may be able to provide a limited number of carts to contestants who desire their use. This year’s field will consist of 96 players.
A list of hotels within a reasonable distance of the club is provided on our website. At this time it does not appear that private housing with member families can be made available. Should conditions change we will alert entrants of that option.
Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in the championship division. Champion and runner-up crystal will be presented following the conclusion of play Sunday. The top finisher among Mid-Am’s(players 25 and over) will also receive a crystal award. Merchandise prizes to those players and other top finishers will be available at that time.
Entries will be accepted based on overall record, prior NYI participation and timeliness of entry. Please apply using the online entry form, available on this website.
