The New Year’s Invitational has recognized the lowest scoring senior player since 1983. The format for that determination has changed several times over the intervening years, culminating in the Senior Division, as presently constituted, in 2009. Many players with fine amateur and senior records have won our senior championship, including our 2019 champion, Robert Bechtol, who won with a fine 3-under par 213 total.
This year’s senior division will consist of entrants 50 years of age or over. Senior division entrants must have a USGA handicap index of 7.0 or less. The senior division will be subdivided into 2 age groups, players from 50 to 64 years of age and those 65 and over. As a minimum of 96 entries will be accepted for the championship division the senior division will be limited in size.
The entry fee of $440 includes 3 tournament rounds and practice round Wednesday, January 1st. Arrangements for an earlier alternate practice round may be made by contacting our pro shop at 727-864-1595. For the tournament rounds, buffet breakfasts and buffet dinners (hors d’oeuvres on Sunday) following golf will be available to competitors each day. Carts will be provided as part of the entry. Please note that the entry fee includes 7% state and local sales tax.
Prizes will be awarded to the overall senior division champion, the runner-up and the top age group finishers. Presentation of awards will follow completion of play on Saturday, January 4th.
Entries will be accepted based on timely filing, overall record and prior New Year’s participation. You may apply online at this website. Entrants will be emailed notification of their acceptance.
